Product Description

Product Description

Wild yam extract is a herbal ingredient made from the root of the Dioscorea villosa plant. It is rich in a natural compound called diosgenin, and is commonly used in women’s wellness formulas for menopause and menstrual comfort.

It does not contain actual hormones, and the human body cannot convert its ingredients into progesterone. We supply it as a raw material for your own formulation.

FAQ

Which specifications can you supply?
8%, 16%, 20%, 95% and 98% diosgenin by HPLC, plus 4:1 and 10:1 ratio extracts. Other assay levels can be produced to order - tell us the target and the dosage form.
How is the diosgenin content verified?
Every batch is assayed by HPLC against a diosgenin reference standard. Identity, heavy metals, residual solvents and microbiology are tested in the same release cycle.
Is a sample available, and what is the MOQ?
10-50 g samples are free for evaluation. Commercial MOQ is 1 kg; bulk shipments are normally packed in 25 kg drums.
Which documents come with a shipment?
A batch-specific COA, MSDS and technical data sheet. The figures in the table above are typical release requirements - actual results always come from the COA of the lot you receive.
Is wild yam extract the same as natural progesterone?
No. Wild yam contains no progesterone. Diosgenin can be converted into progesterone in a laboratory, but that conversion does not happen in the human body, so any "natural progesterone from wild yam" claim is inaccurate.
How should it be stored?
Cool, dry and away from direct light in the sealed original packaging. Shelf life is 24 months unopened; reseal promptly after sampling.
