Product Description

Product Description

Pine bark extract is rich in oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs). A common release pair is about 95% proanthocyanidins and 90% polyphenols, from maritime pine bark.

It is used in cardiovascular and skin-health capsules, and in some cosmetic antioxidant systems. It is not the same as grape-seed OPC even when the percents look alike.

When buying, name the species (usually Pinus pinaster bark) and the OPC method.

FAQ

Can grape seed extract replace this pine bark extract?
No. Both contain OPCs. Identity and the clinical file do not transfer.
What proanthocyanidin assay should we expect?
About 95% proanthocyanidins and 90% polyphenols.
Which part of the pine is extracted?
Bark.
What assays should the certificate show?
About 95% proanthocyanidins and about 90% polyphenols, from pine bark.
Which pine?
Usually Pinus pinaster bark. Ask the batch to say so.
Why not accept grape seed on the same OPC percent?
The percent can look similar. The plant, the oligomer mix and the file behind the ingredient do not.
