Product Description

A 10:1 stamp on Pleurotus ostreatus tells you how the lot was concentrated. It does not tell you the beta-glucan in the capsule. Grain-grown mycelium can push a polysaccharide test up with starch, so the part has to be named before the percent means anything.

Fruiting-body grades go into beta-glucan capsules and blends; a lower assay is the one that belongs in a broth. Ask for a beta-glucan method that separates alpha-glucan, and for heavy metals. Do not let the ratio replace either number.

FAQ

Does a 10:1 extract mean 30% beta-glucan?
No. The ratio and the beta-glucan percent are different statements. Buy the one your label uses.
Why does the part used say fruiting body or mycelium?
Both are sold. Mycelium grown on grain can carry starch that a polysaccharide assay will count.
How should beta-glucan be tested?
Ask for an enzymatic method that reports beta-glucan apart from alpha-glucan, not only a UV polysaccharide total.
Is this the same as king oyster?
No. This is Pleurotus ostreatus.
