Product Description
Astragalus extract is made from the root of Astragalus membranaceus. Two different markers are sold under the same common name: polysaccharides (often 10–50%) and astragaloside IV (often 10–98%).
Polysaccharide grades go into immune-style capsules and drinks. Astragaloside grades are the ones used when a saponin assay is specified. They are not substitutes.
When buying, write the marker and the percent on the PO. A COA that only says “astragalus 10:1” does not answer which one you got.

Applications
Instant Drinks
Polysaccharide grades disperse more readily. High-assay saponin grades need a wetting trial.
Traditional Extracts
Ratio extracts (10:1) are a third product. Do not relabel them as a percent assay.
Tablets
Polysaccharide grades and astragaloside grades compress differently. Do not share one tablet weight.
Immune-Style Blends
Only the polysaccharide grade belongs in that story. Astragaloside IV is a saponin spec.
Decoction-Style Extracts
Polysaccharide grades suit traditional extract briefs. They still need the percent, not only a 10:1 ratio.
Two COAs
If a customer quotes both markers, they are two lots, not one powder with two labels.
