Stress and Sleep Capsules
2.5–10% withanolides. Root identity belongs on the COA.

Ashwagandha extract is the root of Withania somnifera, standardized to withanolides, commonly 2.5%, 5% or 10%.
It is used in stress and sleep capsules and in drink sticks. Root-only extracts and extracts that include leaf do not share the same withanolide pattern; a leaf-heavy grade can raise withaferin A, which many buyers cap.
When buying, say root, the withanolide percent by HPLC, and a withaferin A limit if the customer requires it.

2.5–10% withanolides. Root identity belongs on the COA.

Taste is earthy. The 2.5% grade is easier to flavour than 10%.

Keep the root spec. Do not silent-substitute a leaf extract.

2.5%, 5% and 10% withanolides are different tablet weights.

If the spec says root, a leaf extract is a fail even when the withanolide percent looks right.

Leaf-heavy extracts can raise withaferin A. Cap it when the customer specifies root only.

Earthy taste. The 2.5% grade is easier to flavour than 10%.
